With the all the news about mid-decade partisan gerrymandering and the elimination of voting protections, you’re probably wondering: “What does the alternative look like and how do we get there?”

The LWVWA and the WA Redistricting Commission Reform Task Force are in it for the long term. After five years of study and analysis, the Task Force is developing a model law for Washington State called People First Redistricting Commission. The Task Force is proposing reforms for Washington’s commission that expands representation, and strengthens transparency, accountability, access and citizen engagement. This type of commission is currently in law in California, Michigan and Colorado. Force’s questionnaire from the fall of 2025.

On May 26, come hear what Washington State democracy advocates want in a new type of commission. Join like-minded people to stand up against partisan gerrymandering and build towards true reform.
