Overview of the 2025 Legislative Session

Much of the transportation policy legislation this year relates to supporting affordable housing, density and multi-modal transportation. The biggest item in each year is the budget. The House and Senate will probably be releasing their respective transportation budgets in March. The funding issues relate to diminishing gas tax, lack of adopted alternatives to the gas tax for roads and bridges and the annual update of the infrastructure plan.

For the past several years, League has encouraged more work on rail as an underfunded and under appreciated part of the transportation system, and this year there will be bills to support improvements in the rail system.
