The Linnea Hirst Scholarship Fund

In 2019, an anonymous donation initiated The Linnea Hirst Membership Fund. This fund reinforces the LWVWA commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) by ensuring that no one is excluded from LWV membership and participation due to financial need. The fund supplies membership dues for individuals who need assistance in all local League dues. 

Your generous donation sustains and strengthens the LWVWA commitment to DEI.

About Linnea Hirst

The fund was named after longtime member, Linnea Hirst who began her LWV career in 1963, while living in Fort Worth, Texas. She served on the Texas LWV Board before moving to Washington State where she continued her leadership involvement on many fronts. 

Linnea has served on both the Seattle King Co LWV local board and later became our LWVWA state board president. She headed Vote 411, the League’s statewide online voters’ guide and most recently initiated the Election Credibility Project to identify and offer accurate information about election process and counterbalance the confusion of misinformation.
