Overview of the 2025 Legislative Session

Much of the transportation policy legislation last year related to supporting affordable housing, density and multi-modal transportation. The biggest item in each year is the budget. The funding issues relate to diminishing gas tax, lack of adopted alternatives to the gas tax for roads and bridges and the annual update of the infrastructure plan. 

For the past several years, the League has encouraged more work on rail as an underfunded and under appreciated part of the transportation system, and last year there were bills to support improvements in the rail system.

At times during the session, an Issue Chair may write a "Weekly Update" to provide more details on what happened during the week. When they are available, they can be found below.
